INTRODUCTION:

Founded in 1885 as an independent day and boarding school for coeducation, Kent College, Canterbury became fully coeducational in 1975. The school recently had an independent school inspection, and it received an "excellent" rating in every category. The Senior School curriculum is extensive, covering topics like science (physics, chemistry, and biology), English, Mathematics, and languages like French and German in addition to geography and history.

Apart from its academic programs, Kent College prioritizes a varied extracurricular curriculum designed to assist every student in discovering and developing their abilities. This program includes a variety of activities, such as gardening and Young Farmers program participation, as well as sports and musical ensembles. ADMISSION GUIDELINES:

There are various ways for parents and potential students to interact with Kent College and experience the campus atmosphere. Every year in September or October, there's an opportunity to meet department heads and tour the facilities during the Senior School Open Morning. Interaction with pertinent department heads is possible during the Scholarship Information Evening in October. On typical school days, scheduled online appointments for in-person visits consist of a student-led tour and meetings with the Head and Admissions staff. These visits typically take two hours. Taster days are coordinated by Admissions and match prospective students with peers for a day in their prospective year group. Kent College also holds several community events that are open to parents and prospective students, such as sporting events, concerts, and get-togethers. These chances are meant to provide a thorough understanding of the school's environment and programs.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

The online registration process and payment of a non-refundable £100 registration fee constitute the first step of the admissions process. Neither enrollment nor admissions are assured by registering.

Your child will receive an invitation to take an admissions exam within the upcoming time. We'll also ask for a report from their present school.

After the Year 7 (11+) entrance tests at the end of January, students, parents, and a member of the Senior Management Team participate in an interview.

You will receive an offer of a place (in February) if you perform well on the exam and in the interview. A Parents' Contract that outlines the requirements for enrolling in the school must be completed to be accepted.

CATCHMENT AREA:

There is no defined catchment region because students are accepted from a broad range of postcodes and, in the case of boarding schools, from countries outside of the United Kingdom.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES:

Scholarships in the fields of academia, art, drama, music, and sports are available from Kent College to 11+ students. With prizes usually ranging from 10% to 25% of the tuition, these scholarships seek to identify and develop extraordinary potential. As per the terms of the school's membership in HMC, scholarships at Kent College cover a maximum of 50% of tuition fees; exceptionally brilliant students may earn larger amounts. To promote a well-rounded educational experience, scholars are encouraged to contribute significantly to school life.

Kent College offers means-tested bursaries for students from low-income families in addition to scholarships. The granting of bursaries is determined by parental income rather than academic merit. EXAM FORMAT:

Your child's writing abilities are evaluated on the English paper. For a total of 35 minutes, they will have five minutes to write a plan for the job. At the end of the paper, they should take five minutes to review and edit their work.

The mathematics test measures one's capacity for problem-solving and arithmetic. Number, measurement, geometry, algebra, and statistics are among the topics covered in the paper. 

The purpose of the Non-Verbal Reasoning exam is to evaluate reasoning and intellect rather than knowledge. It measures the ability to comprehend, interpret, and solve problems.
