INTRODUCTION:

Oundle School is the third-largest independent boarding and day school in England and it is located in the picturesque market town of Oundle. About three-quarters of the students at this coeducational school are boarders. One of the school's distinctive features is its dispersed buildings across the town; some are in the middle with large lawns, while others are out on the edge next to fields and sports facilities. Oundle School was founded in 1556 as a free grammar school thanks to the legacy of Sir William Laxton. It has been governed by a Royal Charter since 1930. In addition to continuing to fund the school, Laxton's Worshipful Company of Grocers is a major contributor to its governance, having nominated eight governors.

Oundle School has a unique two-strand curriculum that combines courses that are voluntary and non-examined with ones that are. The college also offers innovative disciplines like 'Trivium,' focusing on "interestingness." In the First and Second Forms (Years 7 and 8), conventional subjects are heavily prioritized, while a wider range of options becomes available in the Third Form (Year 9) and beyond. Exam results show that the school has a strong track record of academic achievement; in the most recent years, an astounding 94% of GCSE marks fell within the A*–B range.

ADMISSION GUIDELINES:

Every academic year, Oundle School hosts three Open Days where potential students and their families can tour the site and get information about the program as a whole.

Oversubscription Criteria:

There are no oversubscription criteria for the school.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Every year, Oundle School offers about sixty spots for 11+ students wishing to enter the First Form (Year 7). Day students enter Scott House, while boarders attend The Berrystead, the junior boarding home. Twenty spots are available at The Berrystead, and forty spots are offered at Scott House. You should use the website to request a prospectus if you would like to apply for your child's 11+ spot at Oundle School. The prospectus packet contains a registration form that needs to be filled out and returned with a £250 non-refundable payment.

Applying as soon as possible is advised for parents who would like to have their child considered for enrollment at Oundle School since bursary selections are decided about two years ahead of admission. Academically, the school is selective, and admissions are granted based on results from interviews and entrance exams. Both online and paper-based assessments covering a wide range of topics are used in the exams.

CATCHMENT AREA:

There is no defined catchment area.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES:

Scholarships for music and academics are offered for 11+ entrance. Please be aware that they are subject to passing the entrance exams and do not entail a fee refund.

Additionally, there are a few means-tested bursaries available. Their amount varies based on your family's needs; some offer a partial charge discount, while others cover all fees.

Two years before admission, decisions are made on bursary help, and the award's tenure is contingent upon your child's continued, good growth.

EXAM FORMAT:

The following tests make up the 11+ entrance exam for Oundle School:

·       English Test

·       Math Test

·       Science Test

·       Cognitive Ability Test

The English paper looks at writing abilities such as inference, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar, as well as comprehension. Excellent use of form, innovation, organization, coherence, and sentence structure will earn points.

Your child's arithmetic and problem-solving skills are evaluated on the math exam. Questions on numbers, measurements, geometry, algebra, and statistics may be included in the paper.

The science paper tests knowledge in the fields of biology, physics, and chemistry.

Verbal, Non-Verbal, Spatial, and Quantitative Reasoning modules are tested in the CAT4 exam, which attempts to evaluate improved abilities.

PREPARATION AND TARGET TEST SCORES:

Strategic planning and efficient support are necessary when preparing a kid for admission to Oundle School, a prestigious and competitive institution. Children should perform well in all three of the major Key Stage 2 topics (Science, Math, and English) to increase their chances. It is advised that you speak with the existing teacher to evaluate the school's suitability and the admissions procedure. Important preparation strategies include using high-quality Oundle School practice questions, taking CAT4 mock exams to boost confidence, and being well-prepared. The adaptive algorithm of Atom is emphasized for generating customized learning paths with professional resources, facilitating speedy comprehension of the vast material evaluated in college admission tests. To clear up any misunderstandings and increase competency, the significance of immediate support through videos, worksheets, and compelling examples is underlined. To ensure a precise evaluation of a child's strengths and areas for development, it is imperative that parents actively participate in their child's progress, praising advances in difficult areas.
