INTRODUCTION:

Situated in Croydon, Surrey, Royal Russell School is a distinguished autonomous establishment. ADMISSION GUIDELINES:

In September, Royal Russell hosts a Whole School Open Morning, bringing potential families on campus for an action-packed day. The Head gives a speech to kick off the occasion, which ends with a delectable picnic lunch.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

To be considered for admission to Royal Russell 11+, one must first register. A private reference from your child's present school will be asked for after the registration form is received. An online exam plus a paper make up the entrance exams. Your child is expected to bring a piece of work or an interesting object to use as a jumping-off point for the conversation during the brief interview that they will also participate in. They can participate in athletics or cookery, or any other activity they like, in the afternoon. Usually, after the January tests, offers of spots are made in February. March is the cutoff date for acceptances.

The following tests make up the 11+ admission exam at Royal Russell School:

The Royal Russell School's online exam comprises modules that assess students' abilities in the following domains:

English: This section uses multiple-choice questions to assess students' reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.

Mathematics: This part includes problems with diagrams and charts that assess arithmetic and problem-solving abilities.

Verbal Reasoning: In this portion, vocabulary and context-sensitive meaning comprehension are assessed.

Non-Verbal Reasoning: This part evaluates the use of diagrams, images, shapes, and space in reasoning.

Imagination and creativity are evaluated in the creative writing task. Proper form, purpose, arrangement, coherence, and sentence structure are given points.

PREPARATION AND TARGET TEST SCORES:

As the English and Math portions of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum will be tested on admission to Royal Russell School, make sure your child understands all of the material they have studied in these subjects up until the end of Year 5. Your child's vocabulary and focus will grow with regular reading time combined with revision. As the day of the exam approaches, we advise your child to finish online practice exams to help with time management.

Students who routinely receive scores of 70% or higher on the online practice exams should be prepared to pass the Royal Russell 11+ online exam. There are no guarantees, but this is a pretty good indication that your child should perform well on the online Royal Russell School 11 Plus exam.
